Lucia said she wanted some girl time a few weeks ago, so off we went for our first mani pedis. She was BEYOND cute and big-girl about it. She really got into the whole pampering thing. She's also having her first cup of hot tea here. So cute. :)

Tooth Fairy
It's possible we forgot to do tooth fairy duties this week. Whoops. Thankfully, Lucia miscounted her "moneys" and thought the tooth fairy brought her one piece. Rather than scramble in there and try to pretend she just hadn't looked carefully enough, I asked her to write a note to the tooth fairy asking what's up.
Translation: Dear Tooth Fairy, I think you forgot to bring me some money last night. Here is my tooth I love you, Lucia.
She also added a PS on the back to please don't take her tooth.
Here's what the tooth fairy brought back! Look at all the moneys!!!
She was very thoughtful this morning, and asked, why would the tooth fairy want me to brush and floss? Doesn't she want my teeth to fall out? Good point, I said. But the tooth fairy wants you to develop healthy habits. We've talked a lot about teeth brushing; for a long time when we told her if she didn't brush her teeth they would fall out, she was like YES, EXACTLY because she saw her other classmates at school losing teeth and that's what she wanted. She's clever.

Weirdly sick, likely nerves
Lucia spiked a fever overnight on Monday, the day after she started her fancy day camp. I wonder if I talked about it too much and she got nervous. Yipes. Her fever was 101 and she slept tons, but was back in action yesterday morning. Phew. Also, in this picture she is so clearly mini-Pete.

Fun with cardboard
Lucia's "spaceship" was found today and behold, fun was had. (Pardon the clutter- more to come on that but suffice it to say we've been busy!)

Fourteen
I don't think I posted about Espen's month 13, so I'll just pile it in here. Espen turned 14 months old yesterday. Our little man. I looked at him today and he suddenly looked like a two year old. I was beaming and sad at the same time, as I imagine everyone feels when they realize their babies are growing up.
He has an extremely different (like, opposite) palate of Lucia's. The girl will eat fruit all the livelong day, and Espen prefers the savory things and even things with a bit of spiciness, he's down. He shovels food in by the handful, and now that he has molars, he's able to chew a lot more effectively. Tonight I think he ate an entire turkey burger himself. He's a big fan of meat; so interesting because that's what I ate tons of when I was pregnant -- but that's what I craved, so I wonder if I craved it because I was carrying him, or if he likes it because he had it when in utero? Either way, it's pretty funny how different he is from Lucia.
Today he blew me our daycare provider a kiss, which was ridiculously cute. He has learned how to say Dada? Every morning after we have nursies, he rolls over and says as loud as can be, DADA? It is adorable. He and Pete have a bit of a love affair going on; the way they look at each other is pretty priceless.
He's not walking yet and we're not worried. He's also not saying tons of words, but we know that's normal for a bilingual household. He hums various tunes and babbles quite a bit. He's pretty great.

This week
Here are a few shots of our happenings this week.
Espen and I got hand-foot-mouth disease and had to be basically quarantined all last weekend. We had to get creative with activities, ala look at this amazing new toy!
I opened the door for us to go to the park and had to run back in to get something; he was down the hall in a flash. So funny.

Lucia's play for her afterschool drama class was this week. I always think these will be Tony-award caliber performances and am disappointed. Note to self: these will always be crappy. Lower expectations.
Pete got me new workout clothes for Mother's Day. I'm thrilled to be back in the gym. Working out is my go-to for stress relief, and it makes me a better parent, wife and employee. I love my new workout clothes!
Another tooth shot. I'm still stunned she lost her first tooth. Awwww.

Growing up on us
Sniff sniff.
It happened at JCC. She actually misplaced the tooth but drew a picture for the tooth fairy so she would understand. I can't wait to sneak in and put a dollar under her pillow. :)

Pics
We've been sidelined for almost two weeks with various sickness. We are sick of being sick. But here are some pics anyway.
