Hoppy Easter

Our ambitious plans of attending a new church we derailed due to the fact I'm still sick. I am getting better though, so that's something to be thankful for. Even though its Easter, I still like to inventory those things. Growing up, Easter was always a time for family and good food. We're making roasted lamb and hopefully Skyping with my family later. I hope your Easter was happy and blessed.

Grandmother

My Grandmother died yesterday. Her spirit is now with my Grandfather. I will miss her.

She's got a fever of 102. Blargh. We're going back to the doctor at 12.

Dress Makeover

I've had this dress for 4 years and have worn it 3 or 4 times. I'm just not into white (I bought it for my bridal shower). Though I could add some color with a cardigan, I just felt BLECH in it. I've been searching and searching for a navy dress to pair with the zillion cardigans I have for a cute look this summer. 

Enter the $2.99 box of Rit dye in navy. 

Voila. New dress. I'm so excited.

Panic

I find in moments of panic after you have to spontaneously drop off a conference call because daycare has called and said YOUR KID IS HAVING TROUBLE BREATHING (but don't panic!), it's important to remember what counts the most: deeply conditioned hair.

In all seriousness, the steam in the bath is supposed to help her breathe easier. We both can't seem to shake this upper respiratory thing we've got. She had it, then gave it to me, she got better, I gave it back to her, and now I'm not feeling great again. :( Lucia is going back to the doctor tomorrow and I may too. Is it summer yet?

As seen on the interstate

Going home tonight, we drove west on I-80 and kind of got stuck in traffic, which facilitated what we observed; a green 2001 Honda Civic with the driver side door open as the driver was doing about 22 mph. We see water spray and we think he is emptying his bottle onto the road, but then wait, no its not what he is doing - He is throwing up! Yes this guy is hanging out the door throwing up while he is going down I-80 on a Sunday evening.

Saturday Plans Derailed

We had big ambitious plans to go to Crissy Field today. It's my favorite place in the world. I mean, the whole world. It's where I first came when I drove out to San Francisco to live here, and where Pete and I got married. It's my happy place. We left the house a bit later than we planned, so we fought traffic and had to stop for Lucia's snacks. We had planned to park, walk to the warming hut, have a nice lunch, then walk back to the car. So when we finally arrived and found parking, we were a little stunned when we got out of the car.

Um. 

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. 

It said it was 57 outside, but I swear with the wind it was around 40. Whipping, freezing cold wind. I wasn't wearing a coat. We walked over to the beach, said hi to some dogs, started to walk. 

30 seconds later: Mission aborted. 

Man, what a bummer. 

But we hit up Sports Basement so I could get some new running shoes (35% off) and we picked up some great new kicks for Lucia (also at a discount). Afterwards, we drove through the Presidio down our old street Arguello to go to the awesome playground. Lucia really, really liked it and went down the slide 500 times and pushed a merry go round. 

After nap, we headed over to Walnut Creek to see how the other half lives. Super nice. We had dinner at Chipotle then headed over to Nordstrom so I could get a makeup brush. 

It wasn't the Saturday of our dreams, but I guess it was Ok anyway. 

Eddie mom

Heather has the AP Mobile app installed on her phone, it sends her textmessages whenever big news are breaking somewhere in the world.

This morning I changed my name on her phone from "Pete" to "AP Mobile", and sent her a short little text message:
