I'm not the only tired one apparently, despite sleeping from 9pm to 7am last night Lucia suddenly got very tired this morning. Among our bags from our weekend in Tahoe she had too much to explore.

Six Months Old!!
We celebrated Lucia's 6-month birthday today with new clothes from Carter's, and a very welcome gift of TWO pack-n-plays from a friend with a 2-year-old who had outgrown them. Sweeeeet. She's on the border of sizes, but with her long legs her pants were looking ridiculous, so we got her some new ones, and I tried not to cringe at the ruffles on them. Gawd. We found some cute things otherwise, though I had to talk Pete out of a gray hoodie with a pickup truck on it -- FOR LUCIA. He's obsessed with HIS gray hoodie and is projecting his love of his onto her; I swear, I come home and she's dressed in her hoodie (size 3 mos) at least 3 days a week. Pete just laughs and says, it's warm. Right dude. So now we obviously have to find her a 6-mo sized gray hoodie.
Little Miss is sleeping through the night now, generally from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m., when I nudge Pete to get up and he puts her pacifier back in her mouth. She generally sleeps then for 1-2 more hours, and some days if we get lucky, I get up and spend time with her before work, and she conks right back out after eating, which Pete loves because he gets to sleep a few more hours. I like it too, because it's our special quiet time in the morning for me and Lucia to spend. Other days she's zonked, and then inconveniently wants to get up when she hears me getting up. Those are the rougher mornings; this morning I was calculating what the absolute minimum time I needed to get ready so that I could feed her and not have to wake up Pete. Some days are better than others, as the saying goes.
We're going to Lake Tahoe this weekend; a friend has a few homes up there and invited us. We figured we might not be in the Bay Area for forever, so we should take our chances when we get them. We're bringing Mrs. B with us as well, so it'll be a real party. We're hoping to hike and see the sights; no skiing for us.

She Found Her Tongue
Lucia found her tongue today, and by that I mean she discovered how to stick it out. Pete said it happened this morning. She seemed pretty excited about it (pictures to come tomorrow) and when I stuck my tongue back out at her, she gave me the strangest look, like what are you doing Mommy?

Third feeding
Next morning we tried again, first gave her a few ounces of milk to take the edge of her hunger and tried this time with a mix of mashed sweet potatoes and warm water.
She seemed to like the potatoes at bit better but only until the videotape ran out and she puked like an undergrad.
First feeding video
Here is the video of the very first feeding. She does not know what to think of it except she hates it!

Miss Inchworm
She's so, so close to crawling, and madly in love with Baylee. Baylee of course, is terrified of her. Today we practiced letting Lucia pet Baylee, while I held her (the dog) and told her it was ok.

The car is SO boring, Mom

I wish wish wish I could have videotaped the ride in the car this morning. Pete drove me to work so he could run errands and she talked most of the way and increased the volume as she got bored. We have a new toy for her to chew on while she rides, as she frequently gets bored in the car when she's not tired. She also insisted upon trying to pull off her socks, and shortly after this picture was taken, she was over the hat. God forbid it scooches down and cover her eyes -- she has to be able to SEE EVERYTHING AT ALL TIMES.
Methinks we're going to have our hands full even more as she continues to develop her personality.

Sleepy at 35.040 ft
Things got of to a pretty smooth start today, but at around 11 AM I got really scared. I had fed Lucia a new type of formula this morning and she was now screaming her head off and nothing could stop her. This was very unusual and very untimely as I still had some packing to do and how would the flight go if she had developed some kind of belly ache due to the new formula. I thought it was pretty stupid trying a new formula shortly before leaving.
Leaving Heather was very difficult so I am glad it was a short goodbye. The TSA circus ballet was as stupid as ever, but it went as smoothly as it was inconvenient. There's no easy way to put your shoes back on when you have a baby strapped to your chest. I dont know who came up with the idea, but it must have been a great idea at the time. "Lets have them take off their shoes when they walk through the detector! Moah ha ha!"
I asked for a bassinet which is a little crib they hook on the the wall inside the airplane, that thing rocks. She then sleeps while I type this or eat or go to the restroom. I also have another mom next to me with a little 14 mo old girl they're Swedish, and behind me there's a Norwegian couple with a 2 year old. These kids are really into each other! In addition I'm sitting next to the restroom area so theres a lot of people hanging here constantly so Lucia has been mostly awake thus far, but I hope she will burn through her batteries soon, things has calmed down now as they have turned off all the lights in here.
Note to self: remember to make a detailed list of things to bring on the airplane: bottle with warm water for mixing with cold and headphones!
