First Pizza With Cheese!
Home made pizza tonight with cheese was a huge hit! She loved it! I'm not surprised, these pizzas are legendary, made with ready dough from Trader Joes and rolled super thin, then first a layer of olive oil, tomatoes, four-cheese shredded blend and fresh mozzarella plus the glorious pizza spice from Penzey to top it off. And the best thing: she had no reaction!

Liberry
Lucia's been asking to go to the library for a few weeks now, and I found out about their summer reading program so we planned a date. I took her to our local branch and signed up for a library card, then let her pick two books as the library dictates a trial run. For the summer reading program, she gets a sticker for every book she "reads." And when she gets right stickers she gets a prize. So cute. She came home and read her books already. We will take them back Saturday to get new ones.

Kindergarten
Welp, Lucia is going to kindergarten! This fall, instead of next. We looked at the cost of her continuing preschool AND baby care and it's insane. I was on the fence anyway; I felt like she was left out of her friends graduating and getting excited about kindergarten, but she wasn't getting a chance to.
And now she will. We enrolled last week and we'll hear back sometime this week (hopefully) for our school assignment. I've learned a lot about school ratings and scores (in a very quick time frame, gulp). While the school she will likely be assigned to scores a 9 out of 10, we've heard only really positive things about it, so we're excited and eager to see what happens. School starts Aug. 26. It's right down by Lake Merritt, so it's about 1.3 miles away. It's apparently a smaller school and intimate environment, so we think that might benefit us. Plus it's only 1.3 miles away from home, so that's good too.

Dinner Date
I went out with Lucia one night. Heather took Espen with her to see some friends so Lucia and I decided to get ourselves some good food too. We went to Grand Tavern and she had a hot dog with bacon, thats what I would have asked for too but the "Social fries" is so good with the burger!

Last Sunday after service there was a joint babyshower for us and two other families. It was pretty cool, I'm kind of amazed by how much people care.

Two months!
He turned two months on Tuesday!
We had a bit of a setback with sleeping in the past 7-10 days because of the antibiotics I was taking for the mastitis; they upset his stomach terribly so he was super fussy. Before that, he was sleeping up to 4-5 hours at a time (whatttt!), which was GLORIOUS. But over the past week he was up as frequent as every 45 minutes ALL NIGHT. Sigh. He's had awful gas attacks during the day, where he screams and screams in pain. Ugh. It has been tough. But I finished the medication Monday and he has seemed more and more like himself this week.
We made a brief and fairly disastrous go at sleep training this week. Turns out I'm not ready to let him cry, and since we're trending in the right direction, I'm just going to wait a few weeks until I'm ready to commit to it -- it being some type of something. He's up every 3 hours each night now the medication is out of his system, but it feels like he's getting more regular. For now, I'm just trying to focus on getting him to nap in his bassinet during the day.
Lucia is reaching new heights of diabolical acting up; we're consulting our books and trying to talk with her about it as much as possible. We try to use the Positive Discipline principles, but sometimes, like tonight, she just has to watch her princess toys go down the trash chute as a consequence of locking me in her bedroom and then hiding from us in the apartment -- to the point we checked on the pavement below our third floor balcony to make sure she didn't fall off. It was awful. Pray that she gets her head on straight and that we can find a way to get through to her during this inevitably tumultuous adjustment period.
I can't think of anything else. It's been a long week; I'm ready for the weekend.
- He's starting to pull his head up more and more.
- He coos a lot!
- He smiles even more.
- He wants to be on Mommy 24-7
