And we mean filled!!
Friday night Pete was working his new temporary photography gig and I went to the city for a friend's birthday party, and Lucia hung out with Elizabeth, who I used to work with, for an hour or so until Pete came home.
Saturday morning I went to a boot camp type of workout with one of the other moms from our daycare. She's wonderful; it can be hard to meet fellow ladies and especially moms that I really like, and I'm so happy to have met her. Yay! The workout was great; of course I showed off and embarrassed myself. I'll never learn!
We took the dogs to the dog park and they lollygagged around and acted like proper dogs (for Mrs. B, this meant puking).
Saturday night we went to Jen & Jonas' house for an awesome dinner. They had put out 5 different platters of appetizers on the coffee table, and Lucia acted like it was her own buffet. We brought hummus, feta, tapenade and homemade pita chips and veggies for the group. Of course Lucia enjoyed carrots, and then the next day I read they are one of the top choking hazards. Mother of the Year, right here.
Sunday we met our friends early at Happy Hollow Zoo and proceeded to spend the next SIX HOURS playing and seeing animals and goofing off. Lucia's favorite things were the hand-washing station, and specifically learning how to push the button to make the water go on.
She tried to feed a goat his own poop (he didn't want any, weird!), chased Maya, napped in her stroller, and ate her weight in Cheerios and fruit. We had such a great, great time.
Today we didn't do much: I think I'm still tired today from all of the events, frankly. We went to a friend's house for an early dinner, and I'm calling it an early night. We are heading to Los Angeles this week to see the Pants family and meet Mr. Matty. So excited to see them!

Baby Has Magical Powers
Baby is able to pee on the potty now! Apparently Baby's system is working quite well, because she frequently has to go and wow, she goes for a while. Maybe baby is drinking a lot of water?

Crib before/after
This marks the end of putting her in the bed when having to take care of time-critical tasks like taking the dog out for a quick pee, but since we are both home now that would probably be less of an issue for a little while at least. Good news is she seems to be accepting the new bed without too much trouble, although I did find her snuggling on the floor right up to her door (inside her room) under all her blankets with her doll when I went to check on her this afternoon. She had been banging on the door. We went to Ikea tonight and bought a $10 attachment board that keeps her from accidentally rolling out of bed.
Oof
There's no other headline for today's events.
Yesterday I was watching Lucia while she was standing in her crib, as she put her foot over the side. I said to Pete, it's just a matter of time before she crawls out of her crib.
24 hours later, she has done just that. I don't know how exactly, or if she fell or caught herself on the way down, but she didn't appear to be hurt, only curious as to why we wouldn't open the door when she so obviously didn't want to be napping. I went in the room and saw her standing there and came and told Pete, our lives are about to get a bit more complicated.
More about the not sleeping part: she has another cold. We are not even kidding. She must have picked up something from daycare Thursday, and she was running a fever by yesterday afternoon. She woke up yesterday coughing, so I brought out the nebulizer to prevent any cold from getting really bad. Then she started wheezing today, so we had to use the other medication, the one that makes her terribly aggressive and antsy. I don't blame her -- her dosage is the same as mine, only she weighs about 85% less than me, so of course it's going to send her through the roof (but it's the dosage the doctor has prescribed). But still. She was basically BabyZilla today, and more curious once we took off the side of the crib to turn it into a daybed. She napped for maybe 30 minutes TOTAL (as opposed to her going down like clockwork every 3 hours). We tried for HOURS to get her to go down. At one point Pete said she had moved her blankets and pacifier right by the door and was laying there. Great.
I figured we'd make a joint decision about when to put her in a big girl bed, say when she was I dunno, THREE? She's not even 20 months and here we are. Gahhhh.
We went to IKEA tonight to get a guardrail so she doesn't fall out -- as much as she moves around when she sleeps, I was worried. I managed to put her to bed and read her Night Night book to her while she laid in her bed, instead of snuggling up with me (trust me, we had plenty of other snuggle time today). I haven't heard a peep from her so far, so I am hopeful she's actually sleeping in there.

Baby enjoying bread
3 minutes before this Lucia was crying big tears because I wouldn't
let her stand up in her high chair. Then I asked her where her baby
was (baby was still in bed) and Lucia put her finger to her mouth and
said shhhhhh! Then Pete brought baby in for breakfast (complete with
her "blanket").

Sunny but a bit chilly
At the playground today. Lucia was mostly interested in touching other
babies. By babies I mean anything younger than her.

I'm Turning Into That Mom
I got really excited by Lucia's pretty hairstyle today. I fear I'm becoming one of those moms. What's next, the musical beauty salon?
The Hungry Little Lucia
When she was sick recently, Lucia dropped 10% of her body weight. I know this because when I'm getting ready in the mornings in the bathroom, she insists on playing with the scale. She's typically 24-25 lbs, and this week she dropped down to 22 lbs. Not a big deal, we know, but it looks like her appetite is back. Hooray! Here's what she ate yesterday:
3/4 of an apple
bread
section of a banana
3 clementines
6 spoonfuls of peanut butter
steak
corn
a few bites of meatballs with marinara
a whole avocado
a cup of cheerios
raisins
dried apricots
almonds
Hooray Lucia!

Even More Baby
Also, as you can see, we got her a baby stroller so she can continue all things baby related. She insisted on "wheeling" it out of the store, despite it being folded up and um, not really steerable. Once we got in the door, we had a MAJOR dilemma in Lucia's world: she's very concerned with keeping her feet clean and after she removes her shoes (when she comes in the door), she always spends a few minutes examining the lint, etc. between her toes and making sure they are pristine. When I took her shoes off yesterday, I forgot they had some leftover sand in them from our recent beach excursions, and you could see her mentally trying to weigh which one to pay attention to: new toy vs. lots of sand in between her toes. The sand won; she made sure most of it was off, then she played with her new toy.
